Rockstar has heavily clamped down on any mods that can change the online Grand Theft Auto experience. This was done to avoid fake money entering the game or players ruining other online players experiences with a feature like god-mode where you can take no damage. However, Rockstar has left the single-player version of the game completely untouched meaning any player can add whatever mod they want and they can be added in multiple combinations. This re-energizes a lacking single-player because once you have completed the campaign there is not much that you can do, but, with mods, this adds a whole new aspect to the experience.
In this post, we are going to count down the 10 of the best car mods for the Grand Theft Auto 5 single-player. Through the list, you will see aesthetic masterpieces and magnificent car engineering.
This list was decided on a few different factors:
- The mod must only add one car.
- The number of downloads of the car mod,
- My personal opinion on the looks of the car.
Coming in at the number 10 spot is the BMW i8. This car has a beautiful interior as well as exterior which is almost the exact same as the real life car. The spaceship-like style of the car makes is lovely to look at and this combined with the amazing handling makes this car a dream to drive in the game. Furthermore, who could get tired of looking at the doors.. they just look stunning! However, the default audio that is used profoundly lets this car down.
Next up is the new Ford Mustang GT. With 90,00+ downloads of this car, I am not the only one who is saying wooh. This car looks aggressive and stunning at the same time and you would think that it would be a beast to drive, but, it is the opposite this is one of the nicest cars to drive in the game and I will never get tired of its photogenic look. This car is a person who cannot have a bad picture taken of them because from all angles you will get the same wow factor.
Boy, that name is an absolute mouthful, but, for a car with such a long name it will leave you speechless. The racecar styling of this car makes it really stand out from the crowd of exotic supercars. This car drives as well as it looks! The power coming from the engine in the front of the car is monstrous and the racecar styling isn't just a look it means that this car has mad amounts of grip so that the driver can get to their destination in the fastest time possible.
The infamous BMW M3 GTR E46 is in the number 7 spot. This car was featured in the 2005 Need for Speed Most Wanted which was released on the PS2 and Xbox 360. It was a huge hit right from the start with lots of players ecstatic that this car returned for the newest Need for Speed title. The M3 feels like it belongs to be featured in this game as it cruised through the city and then when the player wants to they can start to shred the asphalt by pushing the accelerator and not letting go even when they see a bend in the road. The annoying thing about this mod is the sound because it doesn't match the quality of the visuals and lets the mod down massively.
The innovative open-wheel designed Concept F1 car made by Ferrari is next up on the list. The default audio for this car doesn't do it any justice, but, the driver can experience the high speeds that you would expect this car to reach because of the way that this mod captures the speed factor. However, at high speeds you may experience some twitching in the car which slightly ruins the driving experience for the player.
What can I say.. the Ferrari LaFerrari. This car is so pleasing to the eye with its stunning design and the high-quality textures all working together. This car fits in so well in Los Santos especially in the Vinewood areas where all the rich people live. Driving this around you feel like your Grand Theft Auto character has made it in life because this car fits so well into the game.
Next up is the Nissan GTR (2015). This is the most downloaded Grand Theft Auto 5 car mod on the gta5-mods.com website. In the real world this car is one of the most affordable supercars, however, you lose no luxury or performance and all of that transfers into the game. This car has jaw breaking acceleration that helps it get to its top speed stupidly fast. All this will leave you with a shocked look on your face until the car leaves your characters field of view.
The McLaren MP4-4 is beyond question one of the most dominant and iconic Formula One cars of its era. This is the second F1 car featured on the list and this is, in my opinion, the better of the two. At first, the car is quite easy to drive, but, then you will find out the realistic style damage which means if you plough into oncoming traffic you will take a lot of damage. Sadly, there is no real track in the GTA world which means that the only safe place to drive this car is at the airport where you have the open space which straights to floor it and corners to test the handling.
The Ford Mustang Hoonicorn just misses out on the top spot for this list. This car is famous for being used by Ken Block in Gymkhana 7. Even though the model for this car is over 50 years old it should not be underestimated. This car has no traction control unlike some of the other cars on the list meaning that it is a handful to drive making the car even more exciting and fun to use. The car is mainly used as a drift car and once you "tame the beast" you can have hours of fun drifting around the map and even once you get very good at it, you could re-create the Gymkhana video in GTA 5.
Finally, we have reached the top spot on the list and it's the McLaren P1. This car is arguably one of the coolest and most innovative road cars of its time. This mod has racked up over 180,000 downloads which is only 10,000 less that the most downloaded car mod for GTA 5 (it's the Nissan GTR 2015). However, the sheer amount of downloads is not the only reason that this car is at the top spot. This car has appeared in a number of big titles in the gaming world, but, the version that is in Grand Theft Auto 5 is by far the best! The customisation of this car leads to endless possibilities and the super high-quality rendering of the carbon fibre on the car gives it a very realistic look. On the back of the car, there is a moving rear wing that rises when you hit a certain speed and acts as an air break. The impressive thing is that the player feels like the rear wing works by giving extra breaking which really adds some character to the car. Furthermore, the attention to detail is immense, for example, the interior is fully functioning with working dials. Overall, this car is one of the most realistic representations of a real-life car in the game!
